Activities and Events for the Week of: September 7, 2009
Monday No School today! Enjoy your Labor Day weekend.
Tuesday Today we have library.
Wednesday Today we have music and Reading Buddies with Mrs. Woods language arts students.
Thursday Today we have P.E. Wear tennis shoes to school.
Friday Today we have music and mini-economy payroll. We will have our selection assessment over our basal story and a spelling/recognition assessment for kindergarten sight words today.
Other News:
Language Arts - Your child will bring his/her basal home on Tuesday and have an assignment to read the story for the week. This week the story is "I Am a Big Kid" on pages 68-77. Please make sure your child returns their basal on Wednesday a.m. If your child did not get a chance to read it, let me know and they can take it home the following night and return the next day. Your child should practice so that they can read the following words by sight this week: run, ride, be.
I did not get the opportunity to test the kids on their recognition or spelling of kindergarten sight words. I will try to complete this week. We will also be working on complete sentences, correct word order, story structure, and sequence of events. We will also be working on abc order and correct letter formation.
Math - This week your child will be assessed orally on how far they can correctly count by 1's to 130, and also 2's, 5's, and 10's to 130. They will be assessed by paper and pencil on their knowledge of number recognition, number writing, and 1 before and 1 after.
